Community Transmission Rates End with PHE
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced several changes with the coming end of the Public Health Emergency (PHE). Two notable changes are that community transmission rates, by which nursing homes determine COVID mitigation measures such as source control (masking), and community levels, by which other aging services settings and the general public determine mitigation measures, will both sunset with the end of the PHE.
These metrics will be replaced by a new metric that will be used to determine mitigation strategies, but no information on the new metric is available at this time. LeadingAge will share more details as information becomes available but note that it is unlikely COVID-19 mitigation measures will completely disappear with the end of the PHE.
