What’s Happening
May 15 is LeadingAge Video Share Day for Older Americans Month. Members will post LeadingAge PSAs to inform the public of options across the care continuum to keep older adults connected, boosting their physical, mental, and emotional health.
How You Can Join In
Mark your calendars for May 15 when LeadingAge members will demonstrate their power of connection as our collective voice shows the public the range of aging services available to help older adults maintain their physical, mental, and emotional health. It’s the second annual LeadingAge Video Share Day, a key activity in the observation of Older Adults Month (OAM). And a great way to show the Power of Connection, the 2024 OAM theme.
Are you a LeadingAge member? Find all the members-only Older American Month tools online, including Choices and Life Changes videos and sample text you can post on social media with the videos. Simply include these videos on your website, in your e-newsletters, or on social media—and tell visitors that aging services professionals build healthy social connections for older adults every day. You can also share any Older Americans Month social media posts from LeadingAge Facebook or Instagram accounts.
Aging is a dynamic process, unique to each person and family, and older adults enjoy lives that are full of possibilities to keep growing and contributing. The range of services and available programs to help older adults stay connected is equally diverse—but not always well-understood, according to LeadingAge research among U.S. adults older than 18. The aging services continuum includes home-based care and services, adult day programs, nursing homes, and independent and assisted living communities to keep older adults connected to activities, health services, and community members.
Residential communities offer a range of planned activities, from book groups to garden clubs to arts performances and classes to daily gatherings and more, that help residents stay connected.
Powered by Connection is the ideal Older Americans Month theme to showcase the breadth of options and ever-growing expertise among LeadingAge’s nonprofit and mission-driven providers.
