Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) and Ranking Member Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (D-VA) introduced “A Stronger Workforce for America Act” on December 7, aimed at expanding skill development opportunities, strengthening the relationship between employers and the workforce system, and putting more Americans on the pathway to successful careers through upskilling and job training opportunities.
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) was enacted in 2014 and made crucial improvements to streamline the maze of federal workforce development programs and enhance accountability. Nearly 10 years since its inception, WIOA is in significant need of modernization to meet the demands of employers and workforce development programs in a post-pandemic world.
LeadingAge supports the updated act, as it reflects the realities of modern workplace, balancing the needs of employers and committed job seekers. Our members are excited about the possibilities to expand training for direct care professionals through the expanded flexibilities for allied health care training. We will be working with elected officials to secure its passage.
