January 11, 2024 Washington, DC – As 2024 kicks off, the LeadingAge Board of Directors embarks on implementing a new three-year strategic plan with a renewed focus on addressing the sector’s acute workforce challenges, driving needed policy changes and leveraging the LeadingAge community’s power to serve members as they navigate a rapidly changing field.
“The world of aging services – and of associations – is at an inflection point, and LeadingAge is committed to seizing this opportunity for our members,” said Katie Smith Sloan, president and CEO of LeadingAge, the association of mission-driven, nonprofit providers of more than 5,400 aging-focused organizations providing services to older adults across the care continuum, from skilled nursing to home health, hospice and senior living communities, including affordable housing for low-income older adults. “This board is especially well-suited to help us meet the moment.”
Roberto Muñiz, president and CEO of Parker Health Group, Inc., will chair the board of directors of LeadingAge for a two-year term effective January 2024, succeeding Mike King, president and CEO of Volunteers of America (VOA).
“The role of LeadingAge in supporting nonprofit, mission-driven members organizations is critical to the future of aging services,” said Muñiz. “As Board Chair, I look forward to focusing on innovation and preparing our members to serve a sharply growing population of older adults.”
The board is composed of executives from LeadingAge membership, who guide how the association works to transform aging services. It provides strategic leadership, policy direction, and fiduciary oversight.
