The Government Accountability Office (GAO) publicly released a report last week on the nursing home part of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Care Compare website. The GAO provided no new recommendations but stood behind those made in a December 2016 report, which include establishing a process for evaluating and prioritizing website improvements; enabling a national comparison through the Five Star Rating System; and adding customer satisfaction data.
Senators Mike Braun (R-IN) and Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) on June 22 introduced bipartisan legislation, S. 2112, aimed at making Care Compare and its data more accessible. LeadingAge will be keeping an eye on these developments and how they will impact nursing homes and nursing home stakeholders.
