The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released new resources on enhanced barrier precautions (EBP). While not currently required for nursing homes, EBP are recommended by the CDC to reduce transmission of multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs). We know that the whole country has turned a sharp eye onto infection control in nursing homes, and CMS added a special section on MDROs to the updated guidance (Appendix PP of the State Operations Manual) last year.
