In a letter to the State Medicaid Director dated March 8, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) provided guidance to state Medicaid agencies on two new provisions. The first, per the Consolidated Appropriations Act 2022, requires states to pass legislation disallowing some denials, and the second, per a U.S. Supreme Court decision, permits states to create liens on injury settlements.
