The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced its release of the Streamlining Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program, and Basic Health Program Application, Eligibility Determination, Enrollment, and Renewal Processes (CMS-2421-F2) final rule on March 27. The rule is intended to simplify and streamline the eligibility and enrollment processes for underserved populations, including older individuals, and individuals who have a disability and, by doing so, limit coverage disruptions, reduce administrative burden on states and applicants, and increase enrollment and retention of eligible individuals.
LeadingAge commented on the proposed rule in 2022 and is reviewing the final rule and will provide additional information in the coming days.
