LeadingAge signed onto a March 29 letter led by the Alliance for Connected Care to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), urging Administrator Anne Milgram to issue a revised proposed rule permitting and regulating the prescription of controlled substances through telehealth as soon as possible to ensure adequate time for patients to continue existing care.

LeadingAge hospice, home health, and skilled nursing members serve individuals who need consistent supplies of controlled substances that can only be prescribed via telehealth due to rurality or crisis situations. The revision of this rule is critical to keep access to these drugs seamless for patients.
