The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on November 18, 2025 announced a Caregiver Artificial Intelligence Prize Competition aimed at easing the burden on the nation’s caregivers.
Teams will compete for prize awards up to $2 million in this initiative, which aims to identify practical and effective ways to use artificial intelligence (AI) to address caregiving challenges.
More specifically, the competition, led by the Administration for Community Living (ACL), will recognize and reward innovators who are developing, testing and scaling AI-enabled tools that will:
- Support caregivers—including family, friends, and direct care workers—to deliver safe, person-centered care at home.
- Support employers by improving scheduling, training, and workforce efficiency.
The competition is meant to highlight HHS’s commitment to addressing the myriad challenges faced by the millions of Americans who serve as caregivers for older adults and people with disabilities.
ACL’s webpage with competition details will be updated as more information becomes available. The competition is expected to launch the competition in early 2026 on challenge.gov.
