The Home Care Chartbook, published annually by the Research Institute for Home Care, provides a broad overview of home health patients, the home health workforce, organizational trends, and the economic contribution of home health agencies. The Chartbook also provides data on 30-day rehospitalization rates. This year’s chart book found an increasing number of Medicare Advantage (MA) beneficiaries had difficulty accessing home health care services. Broken down even further, nearly half of those MA patients (47.7%) who have trouble accessing care said they have trouble due to coverage barriers. This is a trend consistent with the experience of LeadingAge members. LeadingAge President and CEO Katie Smith Sloan serves on the board of the research institute.
