LeadingAge members have been reporting several issues with the new Minimum Data Set (MDS) since the October 1 rollout. Many issues were shared with CMS on the October 12 SNF Open Door Forum, and LeadingAge reiterated these and other member-reported issues to CMS on October 24. CMS stated that at this time, no issues have been identified with the assessment instrument. This means that the issues members are experiencing are software vendor issues, and they can only be fixed by the software vendor.

LeadingAge has requested information on any collaboration between CMS and software vendors to address these issues and any alternative strategies members can use for MDS submission until these issues are resolved. In the meantime, please check with your software vendor on any issues to determine what is being done to address the problem.
