Delivering difficult health news is inevitable. How we approach it is modifiable for the reduction of fear, misinformation, and in the case of the person with dementia, reliving the unhappy news repeatedly. Our approach needs to be pre-planned, considerate of the person’s own health needs and ability to process the news and include cultural and faith considerations. A review of strategies to gain an understanding of the more personal, patient-centered approach will reduce the adverse impact of difficult health news and improve navigation of such going forward. Learn more!
