President Trump has announced nominations for two key positions within the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD): Andrew Hughes has been nominated as Deputy Secretary of the agency, a critical position that acts as the second in command, and David Woll has been nominated as General Counsel, another pivotal role in setting the course for the agency.
Mr. Hughes is currently serving as the Chief of Staff at HUD; he previously worked at HUD under the first Trump administration after working for former Secretary Carson’s 2016 presidential campaign. Current HUD Secretary Scott Turner and Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott both issued statements of support for Mr. Hughes’ nomination.
Mr. Woll is currently serving as the Deputy Principal Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development (CPD) at HUD, which is slated for major cuts under an agency reorganization plan leaked in February and confirmed by HUD’s union leader. Like Mr. Hughes, Mr. Woll previously served at HUD under the first Trump administration.
LeadingAge stands ready to work with both Mr. Woll and Mr. Hughes, once confirmed by the Senate, to advance affordable senior housing solutions.
