Nursing Home Minimum Staffing Standards: Four Things You Can Do Now
The nursing home minimum staffing standards were published to the Federal Register on May 10. The rule requires 24/7 onsite registered nurse (RN) coverage and minimum levels of total nurse staffing, registered nurses, and nurse aides in addition to an expansion of the Facility Assessment. LeadingAge is pursuing an aggressive, multi-faceted strategy employing all the tools available to us—legislative, legal, and regulatory—both to address the fundamental issue of building the long-term care workforce and to halt the final staffing rule’s implementation.
