By transforming its data analytics capabilities, LeadingAge CAST Patron Ingleside can now track census and finances, healthcare metrics, and donation information in real time. What’s more, the initiative also improved efficiencies and cost savings across Washington, D.C.-based Ingleside’s three continuing care retirement communities, home care organization, and foundation. Residents are experiencing enhanced care and quality of life, and payers are using resources more efficiently, with the potential to lower costs.
Ingleside partnered with LeadingAge Bronze Partner with CAST Focus NuAIg, a leader in AI-driven solutions for aging services, to maximize its use of data analytics and move the organization into an exciting new phase. Implementation Process
To identify critical challenges and key performance indicators (KPIs), the team analyzed diverse data sources, including findings from stakeholder consultations. Leveraging these insights, NuAIg developed dashboards designed to meet various business functions’ specific needs.
The data analytics platform was central to this transformation, offering real-time analytical insights to facilitate faster and more accurate decision-making processes. This platform integrated data from PointClickCare, a LeadingAge Gold Partner with CAST Focus; Excel; and the Raiser’s Edge application programming interface (API) for a unified view of Ingleside’s metrics.
Dashboards
Ingleside now utilizes three dashboards that provide a clear view of census and financial data, healthcare metrics, and fundraising insights, empowering the organization to make informed decisions with ease.
- Census and Financial Metrics Dashboard: NuAIg’s solution integrates real-time census data and monthly financial metrics using PointClickCare’s Data Relay, complemented by custom automation bots that extract and store data securely in a SQL database. Ingleside can visualize the processed data in a Power BI dashboard, gaining interactive, real-time insights into key metrics such as occupancy rates, admissions and discharges, budget vs. actual variance, and essential financial health indicators.
- Healthcare Metrics Dashboard: This dashboard integrates data from PointClickCare and manually tracked metrics to provide a comprehensive view of healthcare performance across independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing communities. With data consolidated into a single platform, Ingleside benefits from a streamlined data collection process, lower administrative workload, and consistent, accurate reporting.
- Foundation Department Dashboard: This dashboard leverages the Raiser’s Edge API to track donor information and donations, offering Ingleside real-time insights into donor behavior. It enables the organization to track fundraising campaign performance, including key metrics like gifts by community, donor contributions, and fund types and to automate notifications for significant donations.
Outcomes
Transforming Ingleside’s data analytics capabilities brought significant improvements in several areas.
Healthcare: The project enabled Ingleside to better track and manage key health indicators (such as readmissions, falls, and medication adherence) and advanced the team’s ability to implement care plans and manage incidents proactively. Increased monitoring and preventive care led to fewer hospital readmissions.
Staffing: This implementation substantially reduced staff time spent on manual data entry and reporting, while improving data collection.
Resident Quality of Life: Resident satisfaction increased thanks to increased engagement with care plans and health monitoring, timely interventions, and better resource allocation.
