LeadingAge: We’re about sharing.
We help each other in times of need, such as the aftermath of recent destructive back-to-back hurricanes, when members in the region gave concrete, on-the-ground help like food, water, temporary housing, and more, while members across the country donated to the LeadingAge Disaster Relief Fund to help staff and communities get back on their feet.
We share new ideas and best practices in countless ways—via conferences featuring member-led education sessions, through participation in member networks or peer groups, and shared learning programs. And that sharing is done in a spirit of mutual benefit—not competition.
And we all embrace the belief that leadership development is crucial to continual improvement in services offered to older adults and others, that “supporting the development of our future leaders is a shared responsibility.” Members donate generously to LeadingAge’s Larry Minnix Leadership Development Fund, which gives scholarships for the Leadership Academy, the New CEO Fellowship program, and the Next Level Leadership Series.
As Giving Tuesday (December 3, 2024, a day devoted to thankfulness) nears, LeadingAge members can exhibit their own “Radical Generosity.” As President and CEO Katie Smith Sloan observed after the hurricanes, “Supporting one another in times of need is a LeadingAge value, a guiding principle. We step up and serve to the best of our ability.”
Help members still recovering from hardship by donating to our Disaster Relief Fund and help build the future by contributing to the Larry Minnix Leadership Development Fund.
