Viibrant Named One of North Carolina’s Startups to Watch
WRAL TechWire recently profiled LeadingAge Silver Partner Viibrant, which the North Carolina Technology Association recognized as one of 10 “Startups to Watch” across the state.
In its responses to the Q&A, Viibrant said, “We have been recognized in our industry for market leading technology, but this is our first time being recognized amongst other incredible start-ups outside of our industry. This is a class that we can all be very proud of… Recognitions like this are very rewarding and validating, however the accolades and smiles we get from our clients and residents are so much more.”
Viibrant said that what makes the company unique are frequent changes to its product, team structure, and procedures, as well as carefully listening to customers.
Philips and Humana Team to Improve Care for At-risk Medicare Advantage Members
Royal Philips, a global leader in health technology, has announced a collaboration with Humana Inc., one of the leading health and well-being companies in the U.S., to help improve care and health outcomes for select high-risk Medicare Advantage members. Philips is a LeadingAge CAST Supporter.
The collaboration will help support independent living for high-acuity seniors by providing 24/7 access to care. In addition, Philips’ remote patient monitoring capabilities will help Humana care managers deliver interventions for their members with congestive heart failure.
Through an integrated approach, Humana has implemented two programs that leverage Philips’ medical alert services and remote member monitoring solutions to actively monitor at-risk Medicare Advantage members, encourage more timely interventions, and improve care delivery.
Caremerge Voice Launched at Friendship Village Senior Living
LeadingAge CAST Supporter Caremerge recently was featured in three media outlets.
Caremerge Voice, a voice-activated engagement platform from Caremerge and Alexa, has been launched at Friendship Village Senior Living. The platform leverages Alexa for Hospitality—Alexa’s designated offering for hotel guests—to bring security and scale to campus-wide voice and smart home projects in senior living. A recent Senior Housing News article profiled the project.
Caremerge CEO Nancy Koenig was interviewed on WGN Radio 720. She explained her leadership approach, which includes leading by example and paying attention to metrics. She also discussed the satisfaction of creating technology for older adults, long overlooked by the tech movers and shakers.
Electronic Health Reporter featured an article by Caremerge Co-founder and CTO Fahad Aziz. “EHR Integration Is Key To Running a Five-Star Senior Healthcare Facility” describes the main ways EHRs strengthen operational efficiency in senior living communities and enable excellent care for residents.
iN2L President/Co-Founder and CEO Discuss Their Mission
McKnight’s Senior Living recently featured a video interview with LeadingAge CAST Supporter It’s Never 2 Late (iN2L). In “Inside Senior Living 2019: It’s Never 2 Late,” President and Co-founder Jack York, and CEO Lisa Taylor discuss iN2L’s core mission of offering vetted, engaging content to senior living residents, no matter where seniors are cognitively or physically. York and Taylor describe how iN2L helps older adults feel connected, helps operators differentiate themselves and succeed, and helps staff be more efficient.
They also offer thoughts on how the field will be different in five years and how they will strive to meet people wherever they’re aging, including in the home.
Netsmart Named Top Post-Acute Technology Platform
LeadingAge CAST Supporter Netsmart was recognized as the No. 1 post-acute technology platform by Black Book Research for the fifth year in a row, McKnight’s Long-Term Care News reports. The Black Book survey conducted earlier this year polled nearly 1,450 healthcare providers about client experience and customer satisfaction among more than 20 healthcare technology vendors serving the post-acute community.
Netsmart was also recognized in March by Black Book for earning the top client-rated spots in the Behavioral Health EHR, Skilled Nursing and Senior Living EHR, Home Healthcare IT Solutions, Care Coordination Solutions, and Highest Client Satisfaction categories. Soundmind Receives Investments from HearstLab and New York Ventures
LeadingAge CAST Supporter Soundmind announced its recent round of investments by HearstLab and New York Ventures, according to a Cision PRWeb release. Soundmind is the creator of a voice-activated ecosystem for senior care focused on three pillars: concierge services, curated content and care communications. Soundmind’s voice assistants are secure, easy to use, and fully personalized with care plans, calendars, menus, request routing, cognitive games, family contacts, and many other features optimized for senior living.
The company’s national client base spans the senior living industry, and its voice-activated solution is implemented in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, and independent living and by homecare providers. This year, Soundmind’s collaboration with The 80th Street Residence (a memory care community) was recognized by McKnight’s Senior Living with an Excellence in Technology Award.
Seminole Hospital Selects American HealthTech EHR, Expanding Partnership
Seminole Hospital District has selected the cloud-hosted electronic health records (EHR) solution from CAST Business Associate American HealthTech to replace their existing system in Memorial Health Care Center, a 79-bed post-acute facility located in Seminole, TX. American HealthTech is a wholly owned subsidiary of CPSI and a leading provider of EHR for the post-acute and senior living markets.
Starting in January 2020, Seminole Hospital District will have healthcare technology solutions from the CPSI family of companies across all their care settings, including acute, ambulatory and post-acute. The district also chose to adopt the nTrust program, which is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, resulting in improved financial outcomes and predictable monthly payments. CareWorx Offers Guidance on Windows 7 End of Life
CAST Business Associate CareWorx Fully Managed has published a blog post, “Down to the Wire: Preparing for Windows 7 End of Life.” The post outlines the cybersecurity and compliance risk that will come on Jan. 14, 2020, when Microsoft stops providing free security updates and support for Windows 7. It then shares steps that organizations can take now to be ready for this change.

CAST Business Associate Status Solutions, a situational awareness technology company, has shared a product launch, a radio interview, and a guest column.
Senior Living News announced the launch of MIMI (Merging Information Into Meaningful Insights), which combines existing alarms, facility management tools, resident and personnel data all on one analytics dashboard, which monitors and reports on trends and patterns to empower key leaders to make data-driven decisions.
Status Solutions Vice President Amy Jeffs was interviewed on Generation Bold Radio, talking Boomer lifestyle and fulfillment with host Adriane Berg. Jeffs discussed the nexus between healthcare and the hospitality industry and Status Solutions technologies MIMI and CATIE.
An article by General Manager Danielle Myers appeared in McKnight’s Senior Living. “Interoperability: Preventing emergency communication breakdowns in your senior living community” describes ways that interoperability empowers staff members and administrators to be more situationally aware, make informed decisions, and improve residents’ quality of life.
Touchtown Releases New Activity Management Feature
CAST Business Associate Touchtown has released a new activity management feature of its Community Apps product designed to streamline event registration, according to McKnight’s Senior Living.
Communities are adding four times more activities to Touchtown than any other content. The new release, called Activity Management, was developed to meet this need. Residents can now respond to and manage events on a mobile device. Staff can see real-time registrations, better manage waitlists and reminders, and use the information to plan programming.
