On February 22, a LeadingAge call offered an overview of the conclusion of Medicaid continuous enrollment and how unwinding will affect residents in affordable housing (access the recording).
Medicaid enrollment has swelled by approximately 30% through the pandemic, and now states are beginning the complicated work of reinstituting annual eligibility redeterminations. Each state’s Medicaid program and process is different, but all enrollees will undergo a redetermination before June 2024.
Approximately two-thirds of affordable housing residents are dually eligible, and service coordinators (and other staff) in HUD-assisted communities have begun working with residents to ensure continued access to healthcare coverage.
