HUD: Floodproof or Elevate
On April 3, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to address flood risk management for projects receiving HUD assistance, financing, or insurance. HUD’s proposed rule requires that certain newly-constructed or substantially improved structures receiving various kinds of federal financial assistance be elevated or otherwise floodproofed. HUD is hosting three live listening sessions for stakeholders to provide comments; HUD is also accepting written comments until May 23.
More information about HUD’s proposal is available here.
