Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) sent a June 16 letter to Shalanda Young, director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), explicitly discussing the dire workforce shortages in long-term care provider organizations, particularly those in rural areas. Tester said a blanket staffing standard would not work for every provider, a point LeadingAge makes in our Get Real on Ratios campaign—as one size does not fit all. He recommends that OMB not “further exacerbate the serious challenges already facing facilities in rural America.”
