AARP Releases Research, Offers Free Social Media and Web Classes
KSAT recently featured Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) from AARP, which is offering free classes on social media and web navigation to older adults in San Antonio, TX. “AARP program teaches older adults how to navigate internet, social media” shared that OATS helps older adults “learn basic online skills, navigate Facebook and social media sites, manage their health records, exercise and apply for jobs.”
AARP also released research finding that 71% of adults aged 50+ use smartphones or tablets, and 80% use apps. “Health and Wellness Apps: Considerable Use Among Older Adults But Room to Grow,” posted on AARP.org, says the results “highlight the need for consumer education and trusted guidance around this technology.” AARP Foundation is a LeadingAge CAST Patron.
LCS Announces Leadership Change
LCS, a LeadingAge Bronze Partner with CAST Focus, has announced a leadership change. CEO Joel Nelson will step down, and current LCS President and COO Chris Bird will move into the role of president and CEO, on Jan. 1, 2025.
