CMS Seeks to Increase Ownership Transparency
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) published a proposed rule on February 15 requiring nursing homes enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid to disclose and submit certain ownership, managerial, and other information to CMS and state Medicaid agencies. CMS already collects some of the information included in its proposal, but there would be new disclosures too, including the addition of data elements to the CMS-855A form through which owning and managing entities of skilled nursing facilities would have to disclose whether they are either a private equity company or a Real Estate Investment Trust.
Read more about the CMS proposal, including background information and details. Reminder: comments on the proposed rule are due April 14, and LeadingAge will work with members to inform our feedback to CMS on these important issues.
