The usefulness of artificial intelligence (AI) tools as a way to leverage workforce, increasing cybersecurity needs, and the importance of disaster recovery plans were topics on LeadingAge CAST Vice President Scott Code’s mind as he shared 2025 trends with HealthTech.
In the new article, “Q&A: LeadingAge’s Scott Code on Predictions for Senior Care Technology in 2025,” Code also expressed appreciation that CAST members’ roles are evolving, with changes in titles and responsibilities extending to recognize technology’s important contributions to business strategy.
In 2025, said Code, providers should expect growing needs for cybersecurity as insurance requirements increase. In addition, this year opens with proposed legislation in the U.S. Senate that, if passed, would require aging services providers to meet mandatory minimum cybersecurity requirements every year.
One element that remains essential in 2025 is a business continuity and disaster recovery plan—not only for cyberattacks, but also for natural disasters. LeadingAge CAST has recently shared two members’ experiences with unprecedented flooding, with explanations of their recovery strategies.
A growing opportunity for aging services providers in 2025, said Code, is the increasing potential of AI large language models, including ChatGPT, to transform operations by empowering individual employees to work more effectively.
Challenges in the year ahead, he added, offer a continuation of previous threats; Code highlighted providers’ need to access funding and balance investments in critical infrastructure with operations, and the sustained need for interoperability. These needs converge in another 2025 trend, an increased use of data analytics to enable organizations to make data-driven decisions on how to run their businesses.
