Jewish Family Services and Family Lifeline, homecare agencies in Richmond, VA, are using funds from the Richmond Memorial Health Foundation to test a four-pronged approach they hope will strengthen the home care profession in their city. The LeadingAge LTSS Center @UMass Boston will evaluate the intervention and its impact on care providers.
The pilot programs, implemented separately by the two homecare agencies, will:
- Increase the compensation that professional caregivers receive.
- Offer subsidies to increase caregiver access to transportation.
- Provide high-quality training and career advancement activities.
- Take steps to improve agency capacity to track data and measure outcomes.
During the project’s planning phase, LTSS Center researchers used their expertise in the home care field to suggest needed modifications to the interventions, review training materials, assess the agencies’ data collection processes, and develop a plan for the LTSS Center’s evaluation of the project.
