The University of California San Francisco announced the launch of the National Dementia Workforce Study (NDWS) made possible through an $81 million cooperative agreement with the National Institute on Aging (NIA).
Through a collaborative agreement among multiple universities and nonprofit organizations, the study is designed to collect annual data on the dementia care workforce across multiple settings and worker training levels. Questionnaire content development is underway, and feedback is welcome on each of the designated groups of workers: community clinicians, nursing home staff, home care staff, and assisted living staff. Each category includes multiple clinical specialties from physicians through personal care aides and activities staff. More information and a platform to provide suggestions is available here.
