House Appropriators Advance FY27 Labor-HHS-Education Bill

The House Appropriations Committee on June 9, 2026, advanced its fiscal year 2027 (FY27) Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies funding bill during a full committee markup. House Appropriations Committee Votes to End WISeR Model

The House Appropriations Committee voted unanimously on June 9, 2026, to amend the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education (Labor-H) bill to prohibit the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) from using any funds to implement the Wasteful and Inappropriate Services Reduction (WISeR) model or another model that seeks to use prior authorization practices in the traditional Medicare program. House Committee Releases Proposed HUD FY27 Appropriations Levels

The House Appropriations Subcommittee advanced on May 21, 2026, its proposed funding levels for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for fiscal year 2027, which starts in October. Overall, the bill proposes a nearly 8% cut to HUD’s budget, including harmful reductions for public housing and community development programs, but fully funds rental assistance programs like project-based Section 8 and Section 202, HUD’s flagship senior housing program.
