Strategies for Choosing Technology
To help others quantify their technology outcomes, leaders from several providers shared their tips on a recent panel. A recent Senior Housing News article shared takeaways from the panel, which was part of SafelyYou’s Silicon Valley Senior Living Summit.
HumanGood, a LeadingAge CAST Patron, put in place a more formalized approach to technology choices, funding, and implementation. The article featured CEO John Cochrane’s remarks, noting that HumanGood has created and uses a process to identify the organization’s most pressing challenges and to choose technologies in response. HumanGood also recognized the need to be more nimble in making technology decisions, and the board of directors set up a fund that Cochrane controls, said the article.
Other providers evaluated their technologies based on adoption. They look at which technologies residents and staff adopt. They also involve line staff in adopting new technologies and encourage them to champion it.
The article also emphasized the need for interoperability among multiple technology platforms within and across communities and the importance of technology that is practical.
