Provider Relief Fund
The Provider Relief Fund (PRF) was established March 27, 2020, with an initial $100 billion appropriation from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES). During the pandemic, Congress appropriated additional funds bringing the total allocation to $178 billion plus $8.5 billion from the American Rescue Plan (ARP) exclusively for rural providers.
These funds are managed through the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) Provider Relief Bureau. Providers received the first distributions on April 10, 2020. Subsequent PRF payments were made based upon provider applications. Nursing homes, life plan communities, assisted living, home health agencies, and home and community-based services (e.g. adult day services, etc.) are all eligible PRF recipients.
LeadingAge continues to advocate on behalf of its members for additional PRF funding and clarity on various aspects of the program. Here you will find resources to help your organization comply with PRF reporting, return funds, request payment reconsideration and the latest LeadingAge articles explaining what new PRF policies mean to aging services providers.
