New Hybrid Care Model Melds Connectedness and Staffing Help
JayPad tablets from HealthJay, a 2021 Associate Business Partner with CAST Focus, and a participant in the LeadingAge Member Solutions Program, will be used to build a new, hybrid care model for affordable senior housing. HealthJay has partnered with the Buckeye Hills Regional Council (BHRC), a council of governments in southeast Ohio, to deploy JayPad tablet solutions to older adults in several senior living communities.
The tablets will address residents’ need for connection with friends and family as well as staffing shortages. The partnership will make Marietta, Ohio, one of the nation’s early adopters of smart technology to deliver hybrid senior care, said BHRC in a statement.
BHRC is putting the JayPad tablets into the Washington County Home and an upcoming independent living community. Buckeye Fields, a new affordable senior housing community, has a groundbreaking planned for next spring, said “Hybrid delivery model debuts in Ohio senior living communities” in McKnight’s Senior Living.
“Residents will be socially engaged through no-touch video calls with family, virtual hangouts with other residents, and virtual classes to meet other older adults from all parts of the country,” said BHRC in its statement. “Caregivers can achieve more from virtual wellness checks, and concierge on video, improving efficiency to daily operation.”
HealthJay notes that its JayPad is a zero barriers talking tablet. Users do not need to navigate or do anything else to join virtual activity, game, or a telehealth appointment. JayPads offer video entertainment, social engagement, safety features, and telehealth in multiple languages and are HIPAA compliant.
The JayMobile App is designed for caregivers, care partners in the community, and families to stay in touch with JayPad users through group calls, a community bulletin, and/ or hybrid check-ins.
