Philip Smart Joins Oakwood Village as CFO

Philip Smart

Philip Smart has been named chief financial officer (CFO) at Oakwood Village, Madison, WI, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC). In this role, Smart oversees financial operations and supports the organization’s financial strategy. Smart has more than 30 years of experience in senior living and health care. Most recently, he served as vice president of finance and accounting for Physician Partners of America. His experience includes financial leadership and accounting in health care organizations, providing technical expertise and an understanding of industry challenges and opportunities.

Tyler Kypers Named Associate Executive Director at Lantern Hill

Tyler Kypers is the new associate executive director at Lantern Hill, New Providence, NJ, a CCRC developed and managed by Erickson Senior Living. In this role, he helps oversee daily operations for the 26-acre campus. Kypers most recently served as the associate executive director at Woodleigh Chase, another Erickson Senior Living community. He worked at Lantern Hill from 2017 to 2021 as a member of the finance team before advancing to finance director at Siena Lakes. He began his career with Erickson Senior Living in 2007 as a student server at Cedar Crest and later transitioned into finance roles. Kypers holds a bachelor’s degree from Montclair State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from William Paterson University.

Cecil Hicks Jr. Named VP of HR at Immanuel

Cecil Hicks Jr. has been promoted to vice president of human resources (HR) at Immanuel, Omaha, NE. He joined the organization in 2022 as director of talent development and culture. In this role, Hicks oversees HR functions and supports workforce initiatives across Immanuel’s communities and services. Hicks has more than 30 years of experience in HR across public, private, and nonprofit sectors. His background includes leadership in employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, and organizational development.

Seniors Resource Center CEO Chris Lynn Retires; Chandra Matthews Named President and CEO

Seniors Resource Center, Denver, CO, has announced a leadership update as President and CEO Chris Lynn has stepped down and Chandra Matthews assumes the role. Lynn’s planned retirement on May 29, 2026, was previously announced in February 2026, and Matthews has now been named his successor.

During Lynn’s tenure, the organization stabilized operations and expanded services, growing to serve more than 11,000 older adults annually through adult day services, in-home care, caregiver support and care management.

Matthews most recently served as senior director of services at Seniors Resource Center, a role she assumed in August 2025. Her background includes leadership roles at the Chanda Center for Health, Jewish Family Service, Colorado Access, and the Denver Regional Council of Governments, with more than 25 years of experience in aging services, nonprofit, and health care settings.

Amil Marchena Named VP of Affordable Housing Management at National Church Residences

Amil Marchena has been promoted to vice president of affordable housing management at National Church Residences, Columbus, OH. In this role, he supports housing operations and services across the organization’s affordable housing portfolio. Marchena has been with National Church Residences for 15 years. During that time, he has led teams and supported operations across multiple markets.

Kendal-Crosslands Communities Names Sam Homayouni CFO

Sam Homayouni has joined Kendal~Crosslands Communities, Kennett Square, PA, as CFO. In this role, he oversees financial leadership and supports organizational strategy as the community prepares for continued growth. Homayouni brings more than a decade of experience in financial leadership, health care operations, and organizational strategy. Most recently, he served as senior manager of financial operations at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, where he led a team supporting 14 medical divisions and oversaw accounting, financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting for approximately $800 million in annual revenue. His experience also includes roles at Drexel University College of Medicine and Computer Services and Support, Inc., with a focus on financial planning, analysis and process improvement.

The Good Shepherd Community Appoints DeAnn Burns as Housing Manager

DeAnn Burns has been named housing manager at Shepherd of Grace, Becker, MN, part of The Good Shepherd Community. In this position, Burns supports housing operations, resident transitions, and occupancy growth at the community. She also collaborates across departments to improve communication and operational consistency, supports resident experience initiatives and helps address logistical and transition-related needs within the housing program. Burns brings a background in property management and customer service to the role.

LeadingAge Kansas Promotes Kylee Childs to Vice President of Policy and Workforce Development

Kylee Childs has been promoted to vice president of policy and workforce development at LeadingAge Kansas. In this role, she continues to lead public policy and advocacy efforts while advancing workforce development strategies supporting providers across the state. Childs has led initiatives related to policy, workforce and regulatory issues since joining the organization. In her expanded role, Childs oversees legislative and regulatory advocacy, workforce initiatives, coalition partnerships, and strategic policy priorities aimed at strengthening services for older adults.

Jennifer Kappen Named to LeadingAge Pennsylvania Board of Directors

Jennifer Kappen has been appointed to the LeadingAge Pennsylvania board of directors. She is the senior vice president of affordable housing at HumanGood, and in this role, Kappen supports governance and engagement with nonprofit aging services providers in Pennsylvania. Kappen oversees HumanGood’s affordable housing division, including a portfolio of more than 100 communities across multiple states. She leads a team supporting thousands of residents and team members and works with executive leadership and stakeholders to expand housing access and advance organizational strategy. She brings more than 20 years of experience in senior living and nonprofit financial leadership, including prior roles as vice president of finance and risk management at HumanGood and executive vice president and chief financial officer at Presby’s Inspired Life.

Phil Chuang Joins LeadingAge California Board of Directors

Phil Chuang has been named director-at-large for the LeadingAge California and LeadingAge California Foundation board of directors, with his term beginning July 1. Chuang oversees health care services at HumanGood, supporting clinical teams and advancing care delivery practices. His role includes focusing on operational standards, workforce development, and the use of technology to support care quality. In his board role, Chuang will engage with nonprofit aging services providers across California and support collaboration within the broader network.
