The LeadingAge LTSS Center @UMass Boston is evaluating the Rural Aging Action Network, a national collaborative led by Lutheran Services in America to expand sustainable community-based services and supports for underserved older adults in rural communities.
Lutheran Services in America, a national network of 300 health and human services organizations, selected five member organizations to lead Rural Aging Action Networks. The networks mobilize community partners and utilize distinctive assets in their communities to address key barriers to care for older adults and their caregivers.
The LTSS Center study will evaluate whether each of the selected Rural Aging Action Networks effectively addresses local gaps in care, strengthens caregiver capacity, and optimizes sustainable solutions. A forthcoming Replicability Toolkit will provide guidance to rural communities interested in developing a Rural Aging Action Network.
