Patricia Kearns Named COO at Immanuel

Patricia Kearns has been promoted to chief operating officer (COO) at Immanuel, Omaha, NE. She joined the organization in early 2026 as vice president of construction and capital planning. Kearns brings more than 20 years of experience in health care operations, capital development and facilities planning. Prior to joining Immanuel, she served as president and CEO of Quality Living, a long-term care organization. In her new role, Kearns oversees day-to-day operations across Immanuel’s service lines and supports execution of the organization’s operational strategy.

David Hunter Retires as CEO of Mary Wade; Bruce Topolosky Named Interim CEO

David Hunter has retired as CEO of Mary Wade, New Haven, CT, after 45 years with the organization. He served as the longest-tenured administrator in the organization’s history. Bruce Topolosky has been named interim CEO as the board begins a national search for a permanent successor. Hunter led Mary Wade through decades of operations, supporting senior care services and organizational growth. During his tenure, he oversaw care delivery and services for older adults at the assisted living and nursing home community. Topolosky, who served on the Mary Wade board of trustees for nine years, will lead the organization during the transition. He has experience in health care leadership and has stepped down from the board to assume the interim role.

Ohio Eastern Star Home CEO Michele Engelbach Retires; Nathaneal Johnson to Lead

Michele Engelbach retired as CEO of Ohio Eastern Star Home, Mount Vernon, OH, on July 3 after 14 years with the organization. Nathaneal Johnson has been named incoming CEO and will assume leadership. During her tenure, Engelbach led the organization through growth and development, including the opening of the Esther Buchwald Neighborhoods for long-term care in 2016 and the Pine Hill Independent Senior Living community in December 2024. She also guided operations during the COVID-19 pandemic while maintaining care and services. Johnson brings experience in long-term care and health care leadership. Engelbach will remain involved part time and support ongoing development efforts.

HumanGood Promotes Dan Ogus to President and COO

Dan Ogus has been promoted to president and COO at HumanGood, Duarte, CA. In this role, he supports enterprise execution, operating integration, and organizational priorities across the nonprofit senior living organization. John Cochrane will continue to serve as CEO. Ogus has been with HumanGood for more than 15 years and most recently served as executive vice president and COO. In addition to his work at HumanGood, Ogus has served on boards including the American Seniors Housing Association and Vista Community Clinic.

Ebenezer Appoints Jim Gooley as Director of Business Development and Acquisitions

Jim Gooley has joined Ebenezer, Edina, MN, as director of business development and acquisitions. In this role, he supports growth efforts and development initiatives across the organization’s senior living communities. Gooley brings more than 35 years of experience in real estate, including senior living and multifamily development, financing, leasing and management. His background includes work in housing development and operational planning.

Robert D’Elia Joins Broadview at Purchase College as Executive Director

Robert D’Elia has been named executive director of Broadview at Purchase College, Rye Brook, NY. He succeeds Ashley Wade, who led the community through its opening in 2023. In this role, D’Elia oversees operations at the continuing care retirement community (CCRC) located on the college campus. D’Elia brings more than 23 years of experience in rehabilitation services and post-acute care. Most recently, he served as corporate director of rehabilitation at The Osborn in Rye, where he oversaw sub-acute, long-term care and outpatient rehabilitation services. He holds a master’s degree in physical therapy from New York Medical College and a master’s degree in health care administration.

Cristina Cardenas Named Director of Mind and Memory Care at Meadow Ridge

Cristina Cardenas has been named director of mind and memory care at Ridge Crest, the health center at Meadow Ridge, Redding, CT. In this role, she oversees daily operations and quality of services while supporting care teams and residents in the community’s memory care neighborhood. Cardenas has been with Meadow Ridge since 2010, beginning as a certified nursing assistant (CNA). She later held roles in emergency medical services and environmental services, including as manager of the department.

Masonic Homes of California Appoints Ronald Villacis to VP and COO, Julie Mammad Named Executive Director

Masonic Homes of California, Union City, CA, has appointed Ronald Villacis as vice president and COO and Julie Mammad as executive director of Acacia Creek Retirement Community and The Pavilion.

Villacis brings 16 years of health care leadership experience across independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and hospice. He most recently served as vice president of operations for Revel Communities, where he led teams across operations, sales and marketing.

Mammad has two decades of experience in senior living leadership. She most recently served as executive director at The Reutlinger Community, overseeing skilled nursing and residential care operations. Her experience includes leadership across clinical and operational roles supporting community performance and services.

Joe Schomacker Named VP of LeadingAge Minnesota Solutions

Joe Schomacker

Joe Schomacker has joined LeadingAge Minnesota as vice president of LeadingAge Minnesota Solutions. In this role, he leads efforts to strengthen strategic partnerships, enhance member benefits and identify opportunities supporting providers across the state. Schomacker has more than 20 years of experience in aging services, health care, public policy and business leadership. He previously served in the Minnesota Legislature, where he supported aging services and long-term care providers.
