Next week, CAST will bring the toolkit to life at the PEAK Leadership Summit on Monday, March 19, with the session Social Connectedness and Engagement Technologies: Resident and Caregiver Perspectives. Attendees will hear directly from residents, caregivers and volunteers about their experiences using and implementing some of these social connectedness and engagement technologies. Register today to attend this unique session.

The negative impact of social isolation—the experienced or perceived lack of personal relationships with family, friends and acquaintances who can be relied upon—is a health concern for people of all ages, but it becomes more pronounced as people age. Its prolonged health risk is significant, matching the effect of smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

“Our goal is to ensure that older adults have access to quality care and a sustained quality of life as they age,” said Majd Alwan, CAST Executive Director. “CAST is giving providers and consumers a roadmap to the latest and most innovative social connectedness and engagement technologies, easy-to-use tools to guide the planning, selection from the tens of available solutions, and implementation. In this way, we are doing our part to improve the quality of life for millions impacted by social isolation.”
