Your Stories Matter: Share Them!
Stories have the power to inspire, educate, and drive change. That’s why LeadingAge invites all our members to share stories that demonstrate the humanity and impact of your work. Today we’re launching an online portal to make it easier than ever to contribute your stories. The new LeadingAge Story Collector, powered by Gold Partner Greystone, is a simple place for us to gather member stories.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Plan a Story to Share: Jot down a few notes about your story submission or spend a few minutes thinking about your response. We’ll get your juices flowing with suggested topics, but you can share any anecdote you think has value.
  2. Tell Your Story: Visit the Story Collector at leadingage.org/storiesmatter. The tool walks you through telling your story step-by-step through an audio recording or in writing.

Submissions don’t have to be perfect! LeadingAge staff will circle back to gather more details and information so we can best use your story to 1) show policymakers why aging services providers must be supported in their work, 2) engage the media to showcase aging services, or 3) distribute it to your peers to help advance our field through shared learning.

ISO Member Technology Tales
As we launch the LeadingAge Story Collector, powered by Greystone, we are focused on stories about technology. Throughout the pandemic, we’ve seen how technology is critical to empowering older adults and helping them age well—both at home and in residential settings, and today’s Collaborative Care Innovation Summit is all about the role of health IT during health crises.

We’re looking for compelling technology stories that can answer these questions:

  • How was the technology received by your staff, older adults and families?
  • What allowed you to adopt the technology?
  • What lessons did your organization learn from the experience?
  • What is a specific benefit to or impact on your organization and/or those you serve?

Tell us your story now!

A Message From Our Board Chair

LeadingAge Board Chair, Carol Silver Elliott, offers this message to members about our post-COVID reality and the recovery we need to make.

As leaders this past year, we have felt such weight on our shoulders. I imagine that you, like me, could actually feel the physical pressure of all that we have been carrying. It is time to lighten our load, time to roll our shoulders back and release the tightness in our necks. Time to come back to ourselves, time to once again find the joy in our work, find the joy in caring for older adults.

Read the entire message from Carol on coming back to ourselves and finding the joy in caring for older adults.

DAY 2: Collaborative Care & Health IT Innovations Summit
Today, payers, tech firms, policymakers, researchers, and providers across the care continuum gather for the second day of the 2021 Collaborative Care Innovations Summit. Keynote speaker Mark McClellan, M.D., will kick things off with a review of lessons learned during the pandemic and how tech will change our field as things return to normal. We’ll also hear about new payment models, explore how tech can help during crises, and how data can become a valuable tool during public health emergencies. Sound interesting? Register now. This year’s Summit is free for providers to attend.

Today’s Online Coronavirus Policy Update
Today at 3:30 p.m. ET, Tyler Vanderweele, founder and leader of the Human Flourishing Program at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, will join us to talk about lessons from his center’s research on using activity to make lives better. Register now to join us.
