A Message From Our Board Chair
LeadingAge Board Chair, Carol Silver Elliott, offers this message to members about ageism in the era of COVID-19.

“Ageism impacts the funding of services for older adults, it creates a barrier for those who might consider entering our field, it diminishes philanthropy, and it fuels the negative stereotypes that are all too pervasive in our society.”

Read the entire message from Carol on our changing world and making our vision of an America “freed from ageism” a reality.

Act For Older Adults: Contact YOUR Representatives
The Act for Older Adults campaign is in full swing as we work together to ensure that Congress’s next relief package includes support that’s aligned with our Five Essential Actions for Older Adults. Visit the campaign page for ideas on how to get involved this week. And jump in now by calling or sending an email to your representative using this Action Alert.

And, don’t forget to help us send love and thanks to care workers on Direct Care Worker Appreciation Day on July 30, six months after the day the World Health Organization declared coronavirus a global health emergency. We invite all Americans to acknowledge those who have gone above and beyond to protect the health and well-being of older adults during this pandemic.

What’s Your Vision for Our Future?
In this half-day Visioning Workshop, Leveraging COVID Learnings to Shape Our Future, futurist Chris Cowart will use design thinking methodology to help LeadingAge members consider the potential opportunities and impact of the pandemic on the future of aging services.
