Provider Relief Funds Reporting Timelines Announced

Regulation | July 22, 2020 | by Nicole Fallon

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) outlined the timeline for providers to report on their use of Provider Relief Funds(PRF), for those who received $10,000 or more across all PRF payments, in a new PDF document on its website. The first report will be due no later than February 15, 2021.

The brief document is short on details about what providers will be required to report but notes that it will be releasing detailed reporting instructions and a data collection template by August 17. The new document, however, establishes the reporting timeline for providers:

  • October 1, 2020: Date that the reporting system will become available.
  • February 15, 2021 (45 days after the end of calendar year 2020): Date by which all PRF recipients must report on their expenditures through the 2020 calendar year.
  • July 31, 2021:  Second and final report due for providers who had not yet spent all their Provider Relief Fund dollars as of December 31, 2020.

In other words, providers who spend all of their PRF before the end of the 2020 calendar year need only submit a single report anytime between October 1, 2020 and February 15, 2021. Providers with remaining funds at the end of 2020 will submit an initial report by February 15, 2021 and a second, final report by July 31, 2021.
