Members | March 27, 2020

Daily updates as of Friday, March 27.

We are sharing the very latest with members twice daily. Morning updates go out via email, and we’re hosting daily online updates each afternoon. Yesterday’s Coronavirus Daily Member Update Recording, featuring guest Dan Reingold of RiverSpring Health, updates on the new stimulus package, FMLA requirements from the second stimulus package, and the latest from HUD and the USPS is available now. And you can always visit the main coronavirus page.

Following are the latest coronavirus news and resources.

Family Medical Leave provisions under the second stimulus bill have been a significant source of questions for members. LeadingAge prepared an FAQ on New Paid Sick Leave and FMLA Leave in the Families First Response Act (FFCRA) to help.

Advocating For Members
Yesterday, LeadingAge sent this letter to CMS Administrator Seema Verma requesting blanket 1135 waivers for nursing homes. The letter suggests suspending payroll-based journaling; relaxing comprehensive care plan requirements and timelines; relaxing physician assessment requirements; allowing offsite pharmacy reviews; and relaxing CNA training site requirements.

Last week, LeadingAge wrote a letter to the Postmaster General raising concerns from members across the country that the USPS had forbidden postal carriers to be screened for COVID-19. We received a response yesterday. The USPS will be offering communities three options for mail delivery if there are issues with their current delivery of mail.
