Take Action! Tell Congress We Need Relief for Affordable Senior Housing
As Congress debates the next COVID-19 response package, House offices need to hear your support for a new affordable senior housing relief bill. The bill, the Emergency Housing Assistance for Older Adults Act of 2020 (H.R. 6873), provides $1.2 billion for COVID-19 relief for HUD-assisted senior housing. Ask your members of Congress to support this legislation today!

Fighting For You: We Again Call for Federal Support Aging Services
Yesterday, our president and CEO Katie Smith Sloan sent a letter to Vice President Pence in the wake of his latest nursing home photo-op, calling on him to focus on getting the federal government to start providing enough PPE, testing, and resources needed to protect older Americans, who are incredibly vulnerable to COVID-19. The letter also points out that planned FEMA shipments are “way too little, and way too late.” NBC picked up the story: “Nursing home Executive to Pence: Enough Photo Ops.”

HHS Announces More Funding For Nursing Homes
This morning, HHS announced the distribution of nearly $4.9 billion of Provider Relief Funds to nursing homes. Every federally certified nursing home in the country received funding this morning, including 333 that serve only Medicaid beneficiaries. LeadingAge welcomes this action, as it aligns with our ongoing advocacy for more support for aging services. Read our analysis here.
