Message From Our Board Chair

The LeadingAge Board Chair, Carol Silver Elliott, offers this message to members on the unwavering commitment and dedication you bring to older adults.

Dear colleague,

We are all living through unprecedented times and unprecedented challenges. And I know that, in addition to the anxiety and pressure that we are living with, we are all feeling battered by the media and the negative portrayal of our industry, especially nursing homes.

Nursing homes are being vilified as hotbeds of infection, as places where elders are perhaps even more at risk than they would be in the community.

You and I both know that is not true, certainly not true in the case of our LeadingAge members. I know that each of you is doing the absolute best that you can to protect your elders and your staff. I know that you are focused on their well-being every minute of every day, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I thank you for being the unsung heroes.

I thank you for the unwavering commitment and dedication you bring to older adults and I am proud of each and every one of you.

Be well,

Carol Silver Elliott
