Let’s create a society unbiased about growing older – a society that embraces age differences and acknowledges that aging is simply a part of life’s journey.
October was an activity-filled month at LeadingAge. In addition to preparing for our successful Annual Meeting & EXPO in Philadelphia, we also launched a major new managed care initiative, advocated for nursing homes on several fronts, raised awareness about the role of technology, and weighed in on important issues in our field. Here’s a rundown of our work this month on your behalf.
LeadingAge spoke up for nursing homes on several fronts during September 2018. We also supported members in the path of Hurricane Florence; continued our advocacy around workforce, home health, housing, and Medicare payments; and released a variety of resources to help members do their work.
LeadingAge spent a lot of time getting “up close and personal” during August 2018, as our team members in Washington, DC, and our members around the country, held face-to-face meetings with policy makers. As Labor Day approached, we also stepped up our efforts to develop tools and resources to help members prepare for an array of political and regulatory milestones coming this fall.
It’s been hot and steamy in the nation’s capital this July. But our 90-degree temperatures and near-100% humidity haven’t put a damper on the energy and enthusiasm of LeadingAge team members. We’ve been busy launching new initiatives, disseminating exciting new research, speaking out on important issues, and preparing useful resources for LeadingAge members. Here’s a guided tour of our work for you in July 2018.
“Let’s talk about it” has been LeadingAge’s primary message to consumers, policy makers, and members during June 2018. We’ve asked millennials to “Carry the Conversation” by becoming the voice of long-term services and supports (LTSS). We’ve been talking with policy makers about a variety of issues that matter to older Americans. And we’ve provided resources that member organizations can use to frame their internal conversations about important decisions.
LeadingAge was in full celebratory mode during May as we marked Older Americans Month, our annual opportunity to pause and reflect on the important contributions that older adults make to our nation. We launched a social media campaign to shine a spotlight on the month’s “Engage at Every Age” theme. We also honored older Americans by working throughout the month to support the work of LeadingAge members and to speak out for the people you serve.
